Cecilia's Dove

Metriopelia ceciliae

Cecilia's Dove (Metriopelia ceciliae) is a small, ground-dwelling dove found in the Andes of South America. It has a distinctive appearance with a grayish-brown plumage, a pinkish wash on the chest, and a black and white pattern on the face. This species is known for its soft, mournful cooing calls and is often found in open, arid habitats such as shrublands, grasslands, and agricultural areas. Cecilia's Dove primarily feeds on seeds and small insects. While it is not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and human disturbance are potential concerns for its long-term survival.
