Central American Pygmy Owl, Glaucidium griseiceps, is an owl of Middle America and north-western South America, from southern Mexico to western Colombia and north-western Ecuador. It was described by Sharpe in 1875 and belongs to the family Strigidae. The IOC treats it as a single form. It is a small owl with a greyish-brown crown and nape marked by pale spots and dark false eyes, rich brown upperparts and tail with pale bars, and whitish underparts streaked with reddish brown. Juveniles differ in having an unspotted crown and sooty false eyes.
