Cerulean Kingfisher, Alcedo coerulescens, is a resident bird of low-lying parts of Indonesia, breeding in southern Sumatra, Java, Bali, the Kangean Islands, Lombok and Flores in the Lesser Sundas. It is a kingfisher of the family Alcedinidae, first named by Vieillot in 1818. The bird has a metallic blue look and is close in appearance to the Common Kingfisher, but its underparts are white rather than orange. Males are bluer, while females show a greener tone. It lives near streams, canals, flooded rice fields and tidal estuaries.
