Cerulean Warbler

Setophaga caerulescens

The Cerulean Warbler is a small, neotropical migratory songbird known for its stunning cerulean blue plumage on the upperparts and white underparts. Males have a distinctive black necklace across the throat. These birds breed in mature deciduous forests in eastern North America and winter in the Andes of South America. They forage actively in the treetops, feeding on insects and larvae. Cerulean Warblers are known for their high-pitched, buzzy song. Unfortunately, their populations have been declining due to habitat loss and deforestation, making them a conservation concern.
