The upperparts are mainly green, and the underparts are yellow with black streaks. This species is known for its melodious call, often heard in the forest canopy. Chaplin's Barbet primarily feeds on fruits and insects. It nests in tree cavities and is often seen in pairs or small groups. Habitat loss due to deforestation poses a threat to its population.
