Chattering Lory

Chattering Lory, Lorius garrulus, is a parrot of the northern Moluccas in Australasia, where it lives in forested country. It was first described by Linnaeus in 1758. The species is known for a yellow-backed form, L. g. flavopalliatus, which is called the yellow-backed lory. Other recognised forms occur on Halmahera, Widi, Ternate, Morotai, Rau, Kasiruta, Bacan, Obi and Mandiole Islands. The bird is also called the chattering lory.
