Epinecrophylla fulviventris (Lawrence, 1862)

Checker-throated Stipplethroat, Epinecrophylla fulviventris, is a passerine antbird of Middle America and South America, breeding from south-eastern Honduras to western Ecuador. It is a small forest bird of evergreen lowland and foothill woodland, including mature secondary growth, and it is especially associated with dense vine tangles that hold debris. Males have a black throat marked with large white spots, while females show a browner buff throat and face. The species was first described by Lawrence in 1862 and is now placed in Epinecrophylla after earlier treatment in Myrmotherula.
