Cherrie's Antwren

Thripophaga cherriei

Cherrie's Antwren is a small, insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with the male sporting a black crown and throat, and the female having a rufous crown and olive upperparts. This species is often found in the understory of dense, humid forests, where it forages for insects and small invertebrates. Cherrie's Antwren is known for its high-pitched, repetitive song, often heard during the breeding season. While not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to its populations.
