Chestnut-backed Scimitar Babbler

Stachyris roberti

The Chestnut-backed Scimitar Babbler, scientifically known as Stachyris roberti, is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. This species is characterized by its distinctive chestnut-colored back and olive-green upperparts, with a white throat and belly. It has a long, curved bill and a short tail. These birds are often observed foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the undergrowth, where they are known for their secretive and skulking behavior. They have a melodious and repetitive song that echoes through the dense vegetation. The Chestnut-backed Scimitar Babbler is typically found in dense, moist, and tropical lowland forests, as well as montane forests up to 1800 meters above sea level.
