Chestnut-backed Sparrow-Lark

Amirafra collaris

The Chestnut-backed Sparrow-Lark is a small bird found in the grasslands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. It is characterized by its chestnut-colored back and black and white facial markings. This species is known for its distinctive song and aerial displays during courtship. Chestnut-backed Sparrow-Larks forage on the ground for seeds and insects, often in small flocks. They are well-adapted to open, arid habitats and are capable of surviving in harsh environmental conditions. Although they are not currently considered threatened, their grassland habitats are increasingly threatened by agricultural expansion and urbanization.
