Chestnut-bellied Tit

Sittiparus castaneoventris (Gould, 1863)

Chestnut-bellied Tit, Sittiparus castaneoventris, is a passerine in the tit family Paridae and breeds in Taiwan. It is endemic to that island and was described by Gould in 1863. The bird was once treated as a subspecies of the varied tit, but later work in 2014 raised it to full species status. Its key identifying feature is the deep chestnut colouring on the underparts, which sets it apart from the varied tit.
