Chestnut-breasted Munia

Lonchura monticola

The Chestnut-breasted Munia is a small finch species found in the grasslands, open woodlands, and agricultural areas of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its striking chestnut-colored breast and black and white markings on the head and back. These sociable birds often form large flocks and are known for their cheerful chirping and acrobatic flight displays. They primarily feed on grass seeds and small insects. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the population of Chestnut-breasted Munias is declining in some areas.
