Chestnut Bulbul, Hemixos castanonotus, is a bulbul of the Oriental Region, breeding in southern China and northern Vietnam. Swinhoe described it in 1870. It is placed in the family Pycnonotidae and belongs to the order Passeriformes. Its range includes southern China and northern Vietnam, with records also given for north-eastern Vietnam and Hainan in the recognised subspecies. It is associated with subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and is mainly a canopy bird. It was once treated by some authorities in Hypsipetes, and also as part of the ashy bulbul.
