Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush

Garrulax palliatus

The Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and scrublands of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive chestnut cap and a black mask around its eyes. The rest of its plumage is mainly brown and gray, with subtle patterns and markings. These birds are known for their melodious and varied calls, often heard in the dense undergrowth where they forage for insects and fruits. They are social birds, often found in small groups, and are known for their playful and gregarious behavior. The Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush is not currently considered at risk and is relatively common in its range.
