Chestnut-crowned Antpitta

Grallaria kaestneri

The Chestnut-crowned Antpitta is a small, secretive bird found in the cloud forests of the Andes in South America. It is known for its distinctive chestnut crown and olive-brown plumage. This species is primarily terrestrial, foraging on the forest floor for insects and small invertebrates. Its shy nature and preference for dense undergrowth make it challenging to observe in the wild. The Chestnut-crowned Antpitta's haunting, flute-like song can often be heard echoing through the misty cloud forests where it resides.
