Chestnut-crowned Warbler

Schoeniparus castaneceps

The Chestnut-crowned Warbler (Schoeniparus castaneceps) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the eastern Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, a distinctive chestnut crown, and a white throat and belly. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the dense undergrowth of broadleaf and coniferous forests. The Chestnut-crowned Warbler forages actively for insects and larvae in the mid to upper levels of the forest canopy. It is a migratory species, breeding in the higher altitude forests and wintering in lower elevation forests. Despite being relatively common within its range, the species may face threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
