Ortalis ruficeps (Wagler, 1830)
Chestnut-headed Chachalaca, Ortalis ruficeps, is a bird of north-central Brazil in the family Cracidae. It is found only in the country, with its breeding range in the region south of the Amazon between the Tapajós in Pará and the Araguaia in Tocantins. Its head is chestnut-red, while the upperparts are grey-brown, the underparts grey, and the main flight feathers dark brown. It was once treated as part of the variable chachalaca and is now the only species in its group.
