Chestnut-headed Partridge

Arborophila hyperythra

The Chestnut-headed Partridge, also known as Arborophila hyperythra, is a medium-sized bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is recognized by its striking chestnut head and neck, contrasting with a mottled brown and black body. These birds are known for their secretive nature, often foraging on the forest floor for seeds, fruits, and insects. They are typically found in dense undergrowth and bamboo thickets, where they can be heard calling in the early morning and late afternoon. The Chestnut-headed Partridge is considered to be of least concern by the IUCN, although habitat loss and hunting pose potential threats to its populations.
