Chestnut-throated Alethe

Alethe castanea

The Chestnut-throated Alethe is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Central Africa. It is known for its distinctive chestnut-colored throat and breast, contrasting with its dark brown upperparts. This species is often observed foraging on the forest floor, hopping and flitting among the leaf litter in search of insects and small invertebrates. The Chestnut-throated Alethe has a melodious and varied song, often heard in the early morning or late afternoon. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation pose potential risks to its populations.
