Chestnut-throated Seedeater, Sporophila telasco, is a South American passerine in the tanager family, breeding from far south-west Colombia to far north-west Chile. It occurs along the Pacific side of the continent, especially in Ecuador, Peru and Chile, and uses dry and moist shrubland, swamps, sandy shores and badly altered former forest. In breeding males, the throat shows a rich chestnut patch. Females lack that patch and have a paler bill, and outside the breeding season they become drabber. It is one of the smallest tanagers and has a strong bill for taking grass seeds.
