Chestnut-vented Nuthatch

Chestnut-vented Nuthatch, Sitta nagaensis, is a nuthatch of the Oriental Region, breeding from Tibet to south Vietnam. It was described by Godwin-Austen in 1874. In its range it is linked with evergreen and pine forest, and it also occurs in mixed and deciduous woodland, including moist lowland and montane forest. The bird is marked by grey-blue upperparts, a black stripe through the lores, grey to buff underparts, brick red on the flanks, and a white undertail edged with rufous. Its nest is usually placed in a tree trunk hole, and the clutch contains two to five eggs.
