Sitta castanea

The Chestnut-vented Nuthatch is a small songbird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive blue-grey upper body with a chestnut-colored vent and underparts. This nuthatch is known for its agile climbing abilities, often seen moving headfirst down tree trunks in search of insects and seeds. It has a short, sharp call and can be found in mixed-species foraging flocks. The species is known for its adaptability and is able to thrive in various forest types, including primary and secondary forests. However, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to its populations.
