Chestnut-vented Nuthatch

Sitta neglecta

The Chestnut-vented Nuthatch is a small bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive blue-grey upperparts and chestnut-colored underparts, with a black stripe running through its eye. This species is often observed moving acrobatically along tree trunks and branches in search of insects and seeds. It nests in tree holes and has a sharp, nasal call. The Chestnut-vented Nuthatch plays an important role in forest ecosystems by controlling insect populations. However, habitat loss and degradation pose threats to its populations in some areas.
