Chestnut Wood Quail, Odontophorus hyperythrus, is a New World quail found in Colombia, mainly in the western and central Andes and also locally in the eastern Andes. It lives in subtropical montane forest, using both the interior and the margins, from 1,600 to 2,800 m. Adults show grey-white feathering around the eye, with the female’s area more extensive. Males have a chestnut head, brown upperparts and rufous underparts, while females are duskier on the crown and dark grey below. The juvenile resembles the adult female.
