Zimmerius chicomendesi

The Chicoméndez Tody-Tyrant is a small passerine bird native to the cloud forests of the Sierra de los Tuxtlas in Veracruz, Mexico. It is characterized by its bright yellow underparts, olive-green upperparts, and distinctive white eyering. This species is known for its high-pitched, insect-like vocalizations and its active foraging behavior, often observed darting among the foliage in search of small insects. The Chicoméndez Tody-Tyrant plays a vital role in the ecosystem by contributing to insect control and pollination. However, its population is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation.
