Chihuahuan Raven

Corvus cryptoleucus

The Chihuahuan Raven, scientifically known as Corvus cryptoleucus, is a large passerine bird found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is known for its glossy black plumage, stout bill, and wedge-shaped tail. These highly intelligent birds are opportunistic omnivores, feeding on a wide variety of food including insects, small mammals, fruits, and carrion. They are often seen in arid and semi-arid habitats such as desert scrub, open woodlands, and agricultural areas. Chihuahuan Ravens are known for their adaptability and are often found in close proximity to human settlements. Their conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
