Chilean Elaenia

Elaenia chilensis Hellmayr, 1927

Chilean Elaenia Elaenia chilensis is a passerine in the tyrant flycatcher family, breeding in southern Bolivia, southern Argentina and Chile, and moving north to Brazil and Peru outside the breeding season. It was described by Hellmayr in 1927. This bird is the Chilean form of the white-crested elaenia complex. It is a highly migratory species, with the Chilean subspecies treated by some authorities as separate. Its range places it in the Andes and beyond, linking southern breeding grounds with more northerly non-breeding areas.
