Chilean Seaside Cinclodes

Cinclodes nigrofumosus (d'Orbigny & Lafresnaye, 1838)

Chilean Seaside Cinclodes, Cinclodes nigrofumosus, is a passerine of the Furnariidae family that breeds along the coast of north and central Chile. It is also found on several offshore islands and lives in the intertidal zone, with a strong preference for rocks. This bird is a year-round resident and stays close to the water’s edge. It is a large cinclodes with a straight bill, and the sexes look alike. Its nesting sites include rock cavities, burrows in earthen banks, human structures and abandoned pipes.
