Chinese Egret

Egretta eulophotes

The Chinese Egret (Egretta eulophotes) is a medium-sized egret species found in East Asia. It has a distinctive slender, all-white plumage, with a long, thin neck and a slightly curved bill. During the breeding season, it develops long, elegant plumes on its back and neck. This species is known for its graceful foraging behavior, often seen wading in shallow coastal waters and mudflats, where it feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and insects. The Chinese Egret is a migratory bird, breeding in Russia, North Korea, and China, and wintering in Southeast Asia. It faces threats from habitat loss and human disturbance, and its population is declining.
