Chinese Hwamei, Garrulax canorus, is a passerine of the laughingthrush family that breeds in southern and eastern China and in central Vietnam. It was first described by Linnaeus in 1758. The bird is known for the pale marking around the eye that gives it its Chinese name, meaning painted eyebrow. It belongs to the genus Garrulax and is one of the laughingthrushes. Its breeding range extends across south-eastern and central China, with a separate population on Hainan, and it has also been introduced elsewhere.
