Chinese Sparrowhawk

Tachyspiza soloensis (Horsfield, 1821)

Chinese Sparrowhawk, Tachyspiza soloensis, breeds in eastern Siberia, the Korean Peninsula and China, and spends the non-breeding season from southern China and Taiwan through the Philippines and the Indonesian Archipelago to the Moluccas. It is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. First described by Horsfield in 1821, it was once included in Accipiter before being placed in Tachyspiza. The species is monotypic. Its breeding and wintering ranges are linked by movement across Southeast Asia, and it is mainly associated with forests, though it also uses forest edges.
