Chiriqui Foliage-gleaner, Automolus exsertus, is a bird of middle America, breeding from south-west Costa Rica into western Panama. It belongs to the ovenbird family Furnariidae and was described by Bangs in 1901. It is a monotypic species. Its range follows the Pacific slope, including forested country from sea level up to 1,400 m. It uses tropical evergreen forest, older secondary growth and coffee plantations. The bird is a year-round resident across its range, and its heavy bill is a notable feature.
