Choco Black-throated Trogon, Trogon cupreicauda, is a trogon of western Colombia and western Ecuador in South America. It occurs in the Chocó–Magdalena region, from the lower Magdalena River Valley across the Pacific slope of Colombia to north-western Ecuador as far as Pichincha Province. It lives in humid primary forest and mature secondary forest. This species is a year-round resident. It is a monotypic species, and the breeding season in Colombia includes at least February to May. It nests in cavities it makes in decayed trees or stumps, and both parents take part in nesting duties.
