Christmas Boobook, Ninox natalis, is an owl that breeds on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean, south of western Java. It is a member of the Strigidae family and was described by Lister in 1889. Also called the Christmas hawk owl, it is a small hawk-owl with rufous-brown plumage, a barred breast and a dark chestnut facial mask. Its face also shows a whitish brow, lores and throat, with yellow eyes, legs and feet. It is found in moist lowland forest and shrubland on the island.
