Christmas Imperial Pigeon, Ducula whartoni, is a pigeon of Christmas Island in the northeastern Indian Ocean, breeding in the Oriental Region on Christmas Island south of western Java. It is found mainly in the island’s tropical inland plateau and in widespread introduced Jamaican cherry forest, and it feeds and nests in the dense canopy. The bird is the island’s only fruit-eating animal apart from the Christmas Island flying fox. It lays a single glossy white egg in each brood, and may breed in colonies. It was described by Sharpe in 1887.
