The Chukar Partridge is a small, stocky game bird native to southern Eurasia and the Middle East. It has a distinctive black and white facial pattern, chestnut and gray body plumage, and a red bill. Chukars are known for their melodious and repetitive call, which can be heard echoing across rocky hillsides. They prefer arid and rocky habitats, including mountains, foothills, and scrublands. Chukars are often found in pairs or small coveys, foraging for seeds, leaves, and insects. They are widely hunted for sport and food, and have been introduced to other regions for game hunting. The conservation status of the Chukar Partridge is Least Concern.
