Cinereous Harrier, Circus cinereus, is a bird of prey of open country in South America, breeding from c Colombia to Tierra del Fuego, and also in Paraguay and se Brazil. It is a harrier with a wide range across the Andes and southern parts of the continent. The bird is named for its ashy tone. It nests on the ground in vegetation, and its breeding season includes eggs laid in November and young fledging by January. Its diet includes small rodents, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects.
