Cinereous Mourner

The Cinereous Mourner (Pycnopygius cinereus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive mournful call, which is often heard at dawn and dusk. This species has a cryptic plumage, with mottled gray and brown feathers that provide excellent camouflage among the dense foliage. Cinereous Mourners are typically solitary or found in pairs, and they forage for insects and small invertebrates in the mid to upper levels of the forest canopy. Their conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, as their population appears to be stable and they are found in protected areas.
