Cinereous Tinamou, Crypturellus cinereus, is a ground-dwelling bird of the tinamou family and the order Tinamiformes. It occurs in Amazonia in South America, where it is associated with swampy and lowland forest. In parts of Amazonas it is known as inambu-pixuna, while in Pará, Brazil, it is called nambu-sujo; across its wider range, inhambu-preto is also used. The species belongs to an ancient bird lineage, with fossil evidence extending back many millions of years. Its quick reactions are noted as part of how it survives.
