Cinnamon Screech Owl, Megascops petersoni, is an owl in the family Strigidae and breeds in south-east Ecuador to north-west Peru. It was first described in 1986. The species is tied to humid montane forest on the eastern side of the Andes, where it occurs at mid to high elevations. It is a small screech owl with a warm brown facial disc edged in blackish, blue-grey bill, dark brown eyes and medium ear tufts. Its upperparts are cinnamon brown, while the wings, tail and underparts are also cinnamon-toned with darker markings.
