Celeus loricatus (Reichenbach, 1854)

Cinnamon Woodpecker, Celeus loricatus, is a woodpecker of Middle America and north-western South America, from eastern Nicaragua to south-western Ecuador. It is a resident bird of humid and wet forest, and can also appear at forest margins, in secondary growth, clearings and treed pasture. The species is marked by rufous head plumage with a bushy crest, while males and females differ mainly on the face. Four subspecies are recognised, with variation in the amount of barring and the depth of the cinnamon tones across its range.
