Clay-colored Thrush
Turdus grayi Bonaparte, 1838
Turdidae — Thrushes
Clay-colored Thrush, Turdus grayi, is a thrush of Middle America and South America, breeding from Mexico to Colombia. It is a familiar bird in yards and gardens across much of its range, and in Costa Rica it is known as the yigüirro and chosen as the national bird. It is also called the clay-colored robin. Its plumage is brownish, paler underneath than above, with the lightest tones on the flanks. The throat is faintly streaked, and the bill, legs and eyes have distinctive colours that help with identification.
