Cocos Tyrannulet

Cocos Tyrannulet, Nesotriccus ridgwayi, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that lives on Cocos Island in the far south-west of Costa Rica. It is confined to that island and is a resident throughout the year. The bird is placed in a monotypic species, although a 2016 study argued for treating it as part of the mouse-coloured tyrannulet complex. It uses subtropical and tropical evergreen forest, secondary growth, scrub and swampy areas, from sea level to 575 m. It breeds from January to April, with a nest built by both sexes and usually a single egg.
