Coiba Spinetail

Coiba Spinetail, Cranioleuca dissita, is a Furnariidae bird found only on Coiba Island in Panama. It also occurs on the nearby Ranchería Island, and lives in tropical forest, especially in the interior and along roadside edges. It avoids shrubby ground, scrub, and the areas around houses. Wetmore described it in 1957. It is a monotypic species. Its breeding season runs from at least December to July, and both birds in a pair help build a globe-shaped nest of bark and palm fibres.
