Collared Laughingthrush

Garrulax strepitans

The Collared Laughingthrush, scientifically known as Garrulax strepitans, is a medium-sized bird belonging to the Leiothrichidae family. It is characterized by its distinctive black collar and a combination of brown, gray, and white plumage. These social birds are known for their melodious calls and can often be found foraging in groups in the dense undergrowth of montane forests. The Collared Laughingthrush is an omnivorous species, feeding on insects, fruits, and seeds. It plays a vital role in seed dispersal and insect population control within its habitat. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and fragmentation, the population status of this species is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
