Pterodroma brevipes (Peale, 1849)
Collared Petrel, Pterodroma brevipes, is a petrel of the Pacific Ocean, breeding from Vanuatu to the Austral Islands in south-eastern Polynesia and ranging more widely into the eastern tropical Pacific when not breeding. It is a seabird in the family Procellariidae. It nests on steep, wooded slopes, using burrows or spaces among tree roots. The species has also been treated as a subspecies of Gould's petrel. A Vanuatu population was described in 2010 as Pterodroma brevipes magnificens.
