Collared Redstart

Myioborus torquatus

The Collared Redstart is a small, insectivorous bird found in the highlands of Central America. It is known for its striking black plumage with bright red patches on the throat, breast, and tail. This species is often observed flitting through the undergrowth and foliage of cloud forests, where it forages for insects and small invertebrates. The Collared Redstart's melodious song can be heard echoing through the misty mountain forests, adding to the enchanting ambiance of its habitat. While not currently considered threatened, the Collared Redstart faces potential habitat loss due to deforestation and climate change.
