Collared Whitestart, Myioborus torquatus, is a New World warbler found in Costa Rica and Panama. It is a resident bird of humid montane forest edges and gaps, and also uses nearby brushy ravines and pastures. In Costa Rica it occurs from 1,500 m up to tree line at about 3,500 m. The species was first described in 1865. It is a sedentary year-round resident, and its breeding season in Costa Rica runs from March to May. Its nest is a ground-level globe with a side entrance.
