The Colombian Pygmy Owl (Glaucidium palmarum) is a small owl species found in the cloud forests and montane forests of the Andes mountains in Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. It has a rounded head with prominent white eyebrows and yellow eyes. Its plumage is mostly brown with white spots and streaks, providing excellent camouflage in its forest habitat. This owl is a fierce predator, feeding on small birds, mammals, and insects. It hunts by perching and waiting for prey to pass by, then swooping down to catch it with its sharp talons. The Colombian Pygmy Owl is known for its distinctive whistling call, often heard during the day in its forested home.
