Common Blackbird

Common Blackbird, Turdus merula, is a widespread breeding bird of the Palearctic and Oriental Region. It is a thrush found across Europe, western Asia and North Africa, and it has also been introduced to Australia and New Zealand. The species varies across its broad range, with some Asian forms now treated as separate species. Depending on latitude, it may stay in one area, move only part of the year, or migrate fully. In the nominate form, the adult male is black apart from a yellow eye-ring and bill, while females and young are mainly dark brown.
